Meet Amy

Amy Gower is a seasoned Bible teacher who works with the Charles Simeon Trust, an organization that began in Chicago in 2001 to train pastors and church leaders in faithful expository preaching. After years of attending training workshops and leading small groups for the organization, Amy became a Simeon Trust instructor in 2022, traveling across the United States and internationally to train other Bible teachers how to study and teach Scripture.

In 2025, nearly 17,000 participants across 89 countries registered to attend a Simeon Trust event. Amy is grateful to be part of this growing effort to promote the gospel through preparing the next generation of Bible study leaders and teachers.

Her love for studying the Bible is rooted in 15 years of leading, teaching and facilitating women’s Bible studies in church, parachurch and educational settings. She teaches a yearly women’s Bible study at Grace Community Church in her hometown of Nashville. For five years she served as a Bible teacher at the Nashville Anti-Human Trafficking Coalition, engaging with women who have been rescued from human trafficking and addiction. She also regularly teaches at the Nashville Rescue Mission, a Christ-centered community committed to helping those who are hungry, hurting and experiencing homelessness.

“For a decade, my primary place of ministry was my family, friends, church and our girls’ school,” Amy said. “As we prepared to send our youngest to kindergarten, I began asking the Lord to show me what to do with the extra time coming my way. A friend asked me, ‘What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?’ Without missing a beat I answered, ‘I would teach women the Bible.’”

Amy began teaching Bible studies for women at her church and continued regularly for the next 15 years. She also became involved with Simeon Trust, where she attended and led small groups at many workshops before becoming an instructor in 2022. For the last eight years, she has helped lead Bible studies at her daughters’ school in Nashville, where she continues to serve moms of middle schoolers.

Her Story

Amy was born and raised in Nashville and grew up in a Christian home. She came to know Jesus at a young age and attended Christian schools from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

As a student at the University of Virginia, Amy met Evan, now her husband of 28 years. She graduated in 1998 with a degree in nursing and began working in oncology and high-risk labor and delivery.

Her daughter, Mary Grace, was born in 2001. After two miscarriages, Amy had two more daughters—Sadie in 2004 and Betsy in 2008.

When I teach, I’m honest and direct in application of God’s Word.

It’s important for me to learn as much as possible about my audience so that through the power of the Holy Spirit, the application can pierce in a way that is transformative by God’s grace.

I believe Scripture applies to each of our lives, even in the most tender of places. That’s why there are always moments of personal vulnerability when I teach.

While the conversations are often serious, I love to make people laugh. You will often hear me reference things I’m reading or watching.

I enjoy working with women in traditional church and parachurch settings, but also with those who are skeptics, unfamiliar with the Bible, struggle with addiction or have been incarcerated. I’m passionate about making women’s Bible studies in any setting welcoming, comfortable and accessible for non-believers.
